I am incredibly honored to share that I was recently featured in a deep-dive profile by USA News, titled “Brett Diffley: Master of Realistic Action Thrillers and the Davenport Series.”
It is always a humbling experience to see your work recognized, but this piece really captured the heart of why I write. For me, storytelling has never been just about the “explosions” or the high-stakes chases—it’s about the authenticity of the experience and the emotional weight the characters carry through the storm.
From the Skies to the Page
The article touches on my background as a fixed-wing and commercial helicopter pilot, as well as my time as a commercial diver. People often ask me, “How do you make the action feel so real?” The truth is, I’ve spent a lot of my life in those high-pressure environments. Whether it’s navigating a submersible into the “pitch-black abyss” (like Reed Davenport in Treacherous Paths) or managing a flight, those real-world experiences are the foundation for every scene I write.
Recognition from the Evergreen Awards
I am also thrilled to announce that USA News highlighted a major milestone for 2026: being named Best Realistic Action Adventure Author in the USA by the Evergreen Awards. This, alongside my two Pinnacle Awards, serves as a reminder of how incredible this community of readers is. Your support for the Davenport Series is what keeps me at the keyboard.
What’s Next?
While the Davenport Series remains the cornerstone of my writing, I’ve been enjoying branching out into new territory with works like Chance and Terror Effect. Whether it’s a psychological ride or a foray into fantasy thrillers, my goal remains the same: to create a “multi-dimensional experience” where you feel every loss, every victory, and every heartbeat.
